Parade kicks off Music in the Park
This year’s “Music in the Park Festival” gets a ceremonious start as a parade will officially signal the beginning of this year’s festivities held July 12 in Asbury Park.
The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be launched from the Lord of Life Church at the intersection of Hales Mill Road and Springreen Drive. The route will take the parade south on Springreen Drive until it reaches Asbury Park around noon, which is when the “Music in the Park Festival” activities begin.
Music in the Park Festival set for July 12
The Asbury Area Civic and Recreation Foundation is hosting the 12th Annual “Music in the Park Festival” at Asbury Park Saturday, July 12 from noon to midnight to celebrate Asbury’s 75th Anniversary. This free, fun filled family event features a variety of music, entertainment, food, children’s games and family activities. Last year, over 3,000 people attended this event.
This year, there will be new and exciting inflatables, games and other activities for everyone to enjoy! Food like tacos, pizza, barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, shaved ice and beverages will also be available to purchase at the event.
There will be a petting zoo, face-painting and a variety of other activities for all ages.
Be ready for wall to wall entertainment as some local talent will get things started early in the day before turning things over to Hard Salami, a four-piece rock band who play a variety of music but focus on “Songs You Know and Love” like Van Morrison’s Brown-Eyed Girl and Margaretville by Jimmy Buffett. “Badfish” is the headliner and takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. playing their mix of rock, reggae and party music until midnight.
Everyone is invited to come help us celebrate Asbury turning 75.
Shuttle service will be available providing transportation to and from the park with stops throughout the City of Asbury, as well as several outlying areas.
No carry-ins will be allowed for this event.
This special day is brought to you courtesy of the AACRF who are always looking for new members. If you’re interested in becoming a member and assisting in planning community events like this one, please contact Peggy at City Hall, 556-7106.
